Three ‘Drug and Gem’ Smugglers Arrested in Kunduz

12821954_1039283549466098_1039858107_nKABUL: (MEP) Three smugglers of ‘precious stones and drug’ have been arrested along with some azure and heroin from Ali Abad district of Kunduz province.

Mahfozullah Akbari, deputy head of the press office of the police chief of Kunduz in an interview with Middle East Press, said the three smugglers were detained Saturday morning from the security cordon Kesaye Topak area.

According to Akbari, security forces obtained 102 kilograms of lapis lazuli and eighteen and a half kilograms of heroin of the smugglers that intended to transfer it through Badakhshan province to Kabul city.

“Drug smugglers had expertly planted the drugs and precious stones in a vehicle type of 303 that were successfully arrested by anti-narcotics police” Akbari added.

The development comes as a few days before, three suspects had been arrested on alleged transfer of 60 liters of alcohol and other intoxicants by Kunduz security officials.
