Third Consular Meeting Held Between Afghanistan And Iran

2D9A4336KABUL: (MEP) The third two-day summit consular cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held Tuesday at the Foreign Ministry in Kabul.

While welcoming Iranian delegation to Kabul, Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Dr. Nasir Ahmad Andisha expressed, “Travel of the citizens and trade of the merchants of both sides require further strengthening of Consular relations between the two countries and provision of necessary facilities for the both sides’ citizens.

Recognizing the fact, the first Consular cooperation meeting between the countries took place in Kabul in 2006 and in Tehran in 2012, the second meeting took place, as well as Consular Cooperation Agreement between the  two sides was signed.

By extending economic, cultural and political cooperation, I hope we could make our region peaceful for our people especially Afghan and Iranian nations.”

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hassan Qashqavi expressed hope that consular agreements would lead to breakthrough in light of the friendly relations between the two nations.

He added that without improvement in consular relations, cooperation in other fields is impossible.

He also wished to extend commercial relations and road and air transport, as important and valuable, and wished that Afghan and Iranian delegations shall act in spirit of brotherhood and neighborhood and finally witness the executive proceedings acceptable for the both sides.

At the meeting, it was decided to include their issues of interest in three working groups: supporting their citizens’ rights and judicial cooperation, diplomatic and Consular cooperation and issues relevant to refugees, and give their results to the heads of the sides’ delegations for the final decision.
