The Slaughter Of Shiites On Ashura Day

MEP: London-based Islamic Human Rights Committee asked the Nigerian government to stop blockade of citizens and allow the Shiite minority doing their religious ceremony freely. The committee announced its position in a statement in the wake of attacks on participants in the march of Ashura.

According to the statics, Twenty-three people were shot and have been martyred by troops and dozens of others were wounded participating in Ashura march. Nigerian government tried to justify his performance by excuses and claims that these marches are illegal and disturb peace in the society.

Interesting to note that Ashura marches is a religious ceremony that Shia and many Muslims around the world held to honor the Martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.

Previously, the Nigerian Fact-finding committee has accused the Nigerian army for killing of 347 Shiite Muslims and announced that the army buried corpses in mass graves in the city of Kaduna. The committee was formed by the Kaduna state government and demanded the trial of those responsible for this religious massacre. Before fact-finding committee start to investigate, Amnesty International issued a report that Nigerian army accused to shoot intentional bullets into Shiite and for murder.

In the report was announced that the army buried the killed in mass graves and destroyed the causes of crimes.
