MTN company on fireMEP: Armed Taliban have reportedly set on fire a communications tower base in western Ghazni city and two guards of the base have also disappeared.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has said in a statement that the group’s members have torched a telecommunications antenna base belonging to MTN company on Tuesday night in Qala Qadam area.

Javed Salangi, spokesman for the governor of Ghazni province in an interview with Middle East News Agency, confirmed the fire tower base.

He said the service of the company is currently down in the city and efforts are underway to reactivate it.

However, he did not provide details about the disappearance of the two guards.

The report comes as the Ministry of Communications says that in recent months, private foundations of telecommunications companies in some districts of Ghazni was under threat or have been destroyed.
