MEP: At least six security forces have lost their lives and one was injured in an attack by armed Taliban on a police checkpoint in the third police district of Kunduz city.
Mahfozullah Akbari, a spokesman for police headquarters of Northeastern Zone told the Middle East Press, the incident occurred last night in Qabrestan (graveyard) area.
He said six policemen were killed and one wounded in the attack.
Akbari added that operations to clear the outskirts of Kunduz city are expected to begin shortly.
Taliban have also said seven police were killed and the post was also seized in their assault.
Kunduz is one of the restive cities that witnessed the Taliban’s presence in recent years and in the past two years, the city was captured twice by the armed Taliban.
