KABUL: (Middle East Press) Taliban insurgents have said that they have no connection in kidnapping the 30 passengers of two buses in southern Zabul province.

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Taliban insurgents have said that they have no connection in kidnapping the 30 passengers of two buses in southern Zabul province.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said following a statement that the kidnappers are not connected to their group.

“We prefer to announce that Mujahideen do not have hand in the kidnapping of our countrymen” states Taliban statement.

A group of unidentified gunmen who had their faces covered kidnapped 30 passengers of two buses on gun point about 10 days before on Kabul-Kandahar highway and the fate of whom are still unknown.

The group of gunmen reportedly stopped the buses in Shah Joy District of Zabul province and separated the 30 passengers and kidnapped them.

The kidnappers have reportedly taken the passengers from Shah Joy District to Khak-i-Afghan District of Zabul province where a large scale military operation has begun to release them.

According to the officials, over 100 members of the group responsible for the kidnapping have been killed so far in the operation.

But no official statement has come forward to state whether the military has found the where about of the passengers.
