MEP: Taliban insurgent groups have reportedly launched attack on security outposts in southern Helmand province leaving at least 11 policemen dead and seven others wounded.

Esmatullah Dawlatzai, police chief of 505 Bost Zone told media the incident occurred in Gereshk district after dozens of Taliban insurgents attacked a number of police outposts and started clashes with security forces.

Dawlatzai did not provide details about Taliban casualties during the clash.

The reports comes as the Taliban insurgents have rapidly increased their violence across the province in the past few days especially in Gereshk, Nahr-e-Saraj and along the Helmand highway.
