Takhar Local Forces Kill Top Taliban Commander

KABUL (MEP) – A Taliban commander has been killed in an ambush by popular security forces in Farkhar district of Takhar province.

The ambush was carried out last night in the Chashma-Garmak village of Farkhar district.

The Takhar Province press office said the ambush was carried out when a group of Taliban was leaving Farkhar for Namakab district.

The Taliban key commander, Qari Abdullah Gujar was killed in the surprise attack.

The source said that other Taliban fighters fled after the resistance of the popular uprising forces.

The armed Taliban have not commented yet.
