Suicide Bombers Attack On Baghdad Gas Plant Killing 11
MEP: Suicide attackers have broken into a gas plant killing at least eleven people and setting fire to gas tanks near the Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
In addition, 21 others sustain injuries on Sunday in the latest in a series of deadly assaults committed by Islamic State (IS or Daesh) terrorists in the war-torn country.
The assault began when three car bombs exploded at the gate of the plant in Taji.
Some of the attackers detonated suicide belts while others were killed by gunfire, an Interior Ministry spokesman, Saad Maan, said.
Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari, a commander for Baghdad Operations Command, told Arabic-language al-Baghdadia satellite television network that security forces are now in control of the gas factory, and civil defense teams are trying to put out the intense blaze.
