Suicide Bomber Targets US Military Convoy in Bagram

KABUL (MEP) — A US military convoy was hit by a suicide bomber near the Bagram base in Parwan province last midnight. Taliban said seven US soldiers were killed and four were wounded.

Security sources have confirmed the attack to the media, saying that the incident occurred around 11:00 last night in Sarsayad area of Bagram district.

Officials did not provide any details of the casualties.

The armed Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, said in a tweet that two US tanks were destroyed in the attack, seven American soldiers were killed and four were injured.

Although US troops and NATO Resolute Support Mission have not released any information, but Sonny Legget rejected the claim saying, “No truth to these Talibann lies, no US or Coalition injuries or casualties.”

The attack comes as the ninth round of US-Taliban peace talks is currently underway in Doha and there is serious debate over the signing of a peace agreement between the two sides.
