Suicide Attack Killed 5 Policemen In Helmand’s Sangin

KABUL: (MEP) At least five members of security forces killed in a suicide attack in the district of Sangin southern Helmand province Saturday morning, local officials said.

In addition, seven other policemen were wounded after a suicide bomber in a military vehicle detonated his explosive materials, Abdul Rahman Sarjang police chief of Helmand said

Col. Zazi in-charge of publication Dept. in 215 Maiwand National Corp in the province said three other armed men tried to enter into the battalion compound after the first explosion but security forces have successfully shot and killed all of them.

Taliban insurgents in a statement claimed responsibility for the attack.

Helmand is among the most insecure provinces of the country where the anti-government militants are frequently targeting security personnel that often end up to civilians’ casualties.
