The decision was made during a ceremony in western Herat province on Friday when the country’s armed forces lowered their flag.
The Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Fernando Garcia Sanchez and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Jaime Dominguez Buj were also participated in the ceremony.
Since the mission was launched in January 2002, close to 30,000 Spanish troops have served in Afghanistan while over 100 of them have been killed during the mission, according to reports.
