Some 30 Killed And Injured In Herat Clashes Between Taliban Fighters

Taliban fightersKABUL: (Middle East Press) Heavy clashes emerged in western Herat province between the supporters of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and the followers of Mullah Mansour in which at least 18 Taliban members were killed and 10 others wounded, official said on Wednesday.

Ehsanullah Hayat, provincial governor’s spokesman said the clashes took place on Wednesday in Okal area of Shindand district of the province.

Hayat added that the clashes are still going on in the region.

The odds between the Taliban leaders emerged following appointment of Mullah Mansour as the group’s new leader – a decision widely opposed by some members of the group.

Shindand district is one of the restive districts in Herat province that has witnessed deadly clashes between security forces and Taliban militants.
