Seven Dead As Plane Crashes In Canada’s Quebec Island
KABUL: (MEP) At least seven people lost their lives after a small plane crashed on an island off eastern coast of Quebec, the Canadian Press reported.
The plane crashed as it approached an airfield near Havre-aux-Maisons around 11:40 a.m. AT. It went down a few kilometres from the airport.
Jean Lapierre, a broadcaster and former Canadian transport minister, and members of his family were among the victims.
Late Tuesday evening, the Quebec coroner’s office released the victims’ names:
Jean Lapierre.
Nicole Beaulieu, Lapierre’s wife.
Martine Lapierre.
Marc Lapierre.
Louis Lapierre.
Pascal Gosselin, crew member.
Fabrice Labourel, crew member
Police named poor weather conditions such as wind and heavy snow showers as a possible cause of the crash.
Quebec provincial police said the plane was privately owned, and Transport Canada’s Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Reporting System said the plane was an American-registered 1982 Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 with the tail number N246W.
