Security forces retake Khanshin districtMEP: Khanshin district of Helmand province, that had been captured two nights ago by the armed Taliban, was recaptured by government troops, but fighting continues in parts of the district.

Omar Zwak, spokesman for Helmand’s governor says the district came under security forces control yesterday evening and the forces that had retreated tactically to areas, have returned.

According to him, the situation has returned to normal in the district and so far 20 armed Taliban have been killed and 15 others wounded during clashes.

Helmand governor’s spokesman said four members of the Afghan police force were also killed and nine others wounded.

But at the same time, Helmand provincial council says residents are living in predicament due to the ongoing conflicts.

Bashir Shaker, chairman of the defense commission of Helmand’s Provincial Council, said people are facing many problems in terms of drinking water and health services.

Shaker said that clashes between security forces and Taliban still exist around the district and a number of families from the fear of war have left their homes.

Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
