MEP: Unidentified gunmen have killed the Sectoral chief of Baghlan province this morning, an official said.
Zabihullah Shojah, Baghlan police spokesman told the Middle East Press, the incident took place at around 8:30 am in road of Pul-e Khumri, capital of Baghlan.
He said Mohammad Safa Sanaye was killed when two unidentified gunmen opened fire on him while he was heading towards office.
The Sectoral chief of Baghlan province was initially wounded and died on the way to hospital, Shojah added.
According to the source, the gunmen fled the area and police investigations are underway.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident yet.
The attack comes as last year the chief military prosecutor of Baghlan province and district governor of Barka district were killed in Pul-e Khumri – Baghlan highway by unidentified gunmen.
