Sayed Anwar Sadat: Will Turn Faryab Into Taliban’s Cemetery

21MEP: Local officials in Faryab province say armed Taliban tried all their strength since the beginning of their assault started eight days ago on security posts of Garziwan district to capture the district but faced with security forces resistance during this period and suffered heavy losses.

Faryab Governor Sayed Anwar Sadat told Middle East News Agency “the province will turn into Taliban’s cemetery and in the earliest opportunity, nests of terrorism will be wiped out soon.”

Sadat said clashes continue in the 12 km from the central of Garziwan district and there is no possibility of the collapse of the district.

“More than 50 armed Taliban were killed during clashes,” Sadat added.

While some members of Faryab provincial council are concerned about the fragility of the security situation in this district.

Sibghatullah Silab, representative in Faryab provincial council says Taliban’s assault have expanded from three points on police and Popular uprising checkpoints and National Police and continues apace.

The member of the provincial council criticizes of National Army’s neglect in part of sending fighting forces in the district.

“We have many times demanded reinforcement but brigade commander refuses to send help for captured areas and popular uprising that caught in the war.” He noted.

But officials of the National Army based in Maimana say enough forces and National Police are active in the district.

Reza Rezai, spokesman for First Infantry of Brigade of the National Army told Middle East News Agency two checkpoints that had fallen into Taliban’s hand in Garziwan, was recaptured by regroup of Afghan security forces. However, he did not provide details on how the Afghan security forces attending in this district?

Meanwhile, Faryab provincial police chief Sayed Aqa Andrabi leading war in the district ensures that the Taliban can never seize the district.
