Al-Sheikh at a meeting in Turki bin Abdullah mosque in Riyadh expressed his hopes that all Islamic foundations under the Organization of Islamic Conference would soon go under the mantle of Saudi Wahbbi clerics and al-Azhar University, the oldest Islamic university, is no exception, and its name must be changed according to Saudi Arabia’s unrivaled leadership in the Islamic world.
It is worth to mention that al-Sheikh repeatedly asked al-Azhar University administration to take Saudi Wahabbi institution’s opinions into account. He also criticized al-Azhar University for not preaching ‘true Islam’.
