Saudi Arabia Ends Diplomatic Relations With Iran

The announcement was made by Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi foreign minister, on Sunday while the foreign ministry said it was asking Iranian diplomatic mission to leave the kingdom within 48 hours.

The Saudi foreign minister said Riyadh would not allow Iran to “sabotage security” of the kingdom, Al Arabiya news channel reported.

The Saudi diplomats, who were evacuated from Tehran following Saturday night’s attack, have arrived in Dubai en route to Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

The move comes after angry Iranian protesters stormed and set ablaze the Saudi embassy in Tehran on Saturday night during a rally in condemnation of Riyadh’s execution of Sheikh Nimr.

Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry announced on Saturday the execution of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr along with 46 others raising world-wide condemnation and denunciation.
