Sapidar Opposes ARG; “No One Can Fire FM Spokesman”

The tensions between CEO and Presidential ARG rose on foreign ministry during campaigning day but now it stepped to serious crisis amid dismissal or non-dismissal of FM spokesman.

Presidential Palace (ARG) has announced yesterday that the Foreign Ministry spokesman Sibaghatullah Ahmadi had been dismissed and presented to attorney general, MEP reports.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani fired a MoFA spokesman yesterday for what is said irresponsible statements about the Taliban’s visit to Pakistan.

But afterwards, Late Sunday night Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah made a statement countermanding Ghani’s dismissal of Ahmadi. Abdullah stated that Spokesperson Ahmadi will continue in his role until after the election results have been announced.

He also said that dismissals and appointments at this juncture are linked with the elections, and that Ahmadi’s support of the peace process reflects the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abudullah also made the point that all issues surrounding the country’s foreign policy require debate at a higher government level, so that all government units can eventually speak on the issues in a united way.

Meanwhile, State Department spokesman Salahuddin Rabbani has also declared that the spokesman for the foreign ministry will continue working in his role.
