Sales Of Donkey In Kunduz And Baghlan Increased

MEP: Livestock vendors in the markets of Kunduz and Baghlan provinces say the sales of donkey in recent months has increased drastically, as hundreds of Donkeys in the markets are sold daily.

‘Middleman’ or vendors of Donkey say their contribution from the sale of this animal has rapidly increased.

Atiqulla, one of the livestock vendors in Baghlan province said “I do not know on what purpose the Donkeys are purchased; but in these days its sales has increased.”

According to him, nowadays each vendor buys about 10 donkeys a day and most buyers also say they transfer this animal to other provinces such as Balkh and Kunduz.

On the other hand, the increase in the sales of the donkey comes as on Sunday, Kunduz police have discovered a consignment consisting of one thousand donkey skins from the entrance of the city.

Mosawer, vehicle driver told the Middle East Press correspondent “this is the second time that they made me transfer the skins of donkey while they have said that it’s the skins of cow, they lied to me and tricked me.”

According to him, the skins are loaded from Karte Ariana in Balkh province and he does not know how they are being used.

Sayyed Mohammad Danesh, spokesman for the governor of Kunduz said, in connection with the transfer of one thousand donkey skins in this province, four people were arrested and the investigation is continuing with them.

Most of rural people who use donkey as a mean of transfer of their goods and property and this animal has many applications in their lives are concerned in the area.

So far, none of the government offices in Baghlan, Kunduz and Samangan commented on how sales of donkey skin takes place, but some traders believe that the skin of the animals is exported to China and its skin is used in the manufacture of medicines.
