S.Korea, US Kick off Combined Military Drills

KABUL (MEP) – Despite warnings from North Korea about a joint US-South Korean military exercise, the two countries are beginning their exercises.

A joint US-South Korean military exercise will be held today (Monday, August 05) on South Korean soil.

South Korea’s state news agency (Yonhap) has reported that South Korea and the US begin joint military drills despite strong opposition from North Korea.

South Korean military officials said the joint military exercise would conduct a simulated exercise to deal with any emergencies in the Korean Peninsula and would last for two weeks.

North Korea, which has carried out several missile tests in recent days, declared that US and South Korean military maneuvers could divert the talks.
