KABUL: (Middle East Press) Nearly 308 people of 19 nationalities from crisis-hit Yemen have been evacuated by a Russian navy ship.

Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for Russia’s Defense Ministry, said early on Sunday that about 45 citizens of the Russian Federation, 18 US nationals, 14 Ukrainian citizens, nine citizens of Belarus, 159 people from Yemen, 13 nationals of Jordan, and nine citizens of Cuba,  were among those evacuated by Russia’s Navy ship Priazovye.

“All the evacuated citizens are safe on board the Russian ship that will bring them to Djibouti by [Sunday] morning,” Konashenkov added.

The Saudi Arabia has started its military air strikes since March 26 in Yemen in which at least 1,000 people and over 15,000 others have been killed and injured, a spokesperson for the Yemeni army, fighting alongside Ansarullah fighters, said on Thursday.
