Roadside Mine Blast Kills Helmand Border Forces Commander

KABUL (MEP) – A roadside bomb went off in Marja District of Helmand province resulted in Afghan border forces commander was killed and three others wounded.

The incident happened today, Saturday, November 30, when a Humvee of border forces was hit by a roadside bomb in Jarnama area of Marja district.

Helmand governor spokesman Omar Zawak said the incident killed the commander of Helmand border forces General Zahir Gul Muqbal, and wounded three security forces along with a local reporter.

He said General Muqbal along with security forces and a number of reporters were heading to Marja district where their Humvee vehicle hit a mine.

Meanwhile, the Helmand Journalists Union has said that Shamshad private TV channel correspondent, Sardar Mohammad Sarwari, was injured in the incident.

No one or group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
