Ramadan calls for peace

The blessed month of Ramadan brings happiness, goodness, spiritual enlightenment, rewards, and physical and spiritual benefits to all the Muslims. Ramadan brings out a special feeling of emotional excitement and religious zeal among Muslims of all ages.

Muslims look forward to the excitement of sighting the moon and eating special meals with their families and appreciate the opportunity to double their rewards from Allah and seek forgiveness for past sins. As Ramadan emphasizes Muslim brotherhood and unity, all feel a particular closeness towards Allah Almighty and amongst their family and friends.
Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is not only abstaining food and water for the entire day; but it enables its observers to bring about positive changes in their social life. The most important teachings of Ramadan is tolerance. Possessing tolerance is the most desirable attribute to have as it supports build the society, which largely depends on collaboration and trust. Ill-advisedly, today the followers of religion are seen as the most intolerant people around the world. However, Islam has always stressed on the quality of tolerance.
Tolerance towards others is vital as today’s world is turning to be more multicultural. Muslims are in different parts of the world and there are many Muslim countries that have different religious groups residing in them; thus, Muslims need to show great tolerance and respect for them and fasting is one of the ways of practicing tolerance. Staying devoid of food and water throughout the day and keeping oneself normal and agreeable in unison requires a great deal of tolerance.
Congratulating the holy month of Ramadan, President Ghani in a video message to the nation has said this was a good time for all Muslims, in particular militants in Afghanistan to stop killing innocents and fighting each other.
Afghanistan people are highly exhausted from the endless insurgency which was inflicted upon them and led to heavy casualties. They pray for peace and wish to breathe safely in a serene atmosphere.
The world knows that both the ideologue and mercenary insurgents, whether in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen or Nigeria, lack humanity and moral norms and never answer to the call of their conscience positively. Their insatiable thirst for violence and carnage and physical pleasures has outweighed their humanity.
The holy month of Ramadan is a holy feast for Muslims. During this feast, people should not kill by suicide attacks, people should not get killed by any means anywhere, but instead they should be given the message of peace, the message of brotherhood and the message of mercy to everyone.
Indeed month of Ramadan is an opportunity for Muslims to promote peace, democracy and development across the globe. The commitment of sustaining peace in Afghanistan must be the theme for this year’s observance of Ramadan, as the Afghan people have suffered a lot during the decades of war and barbarism and still giving sacrifices in the so-called war on terror.
