President Ghani Visits Helmand To Assess Security Situation

MEP: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani a head of a high-ranking delegation arrived in Helmand province of Afghanistan to assess the security situation, problems and needs of the people.

Omar Zwak, Helmand governor’s spokesman told the Middle East News Agency that President Ghani on Monday morning along with a number of government officials and people’s representatives, visited the headquarters of the 215th Maiwand in Washir district.

The President is expected to meet and hold talks with governors and security officials, including the commander of the 215th Maiwand, as well as some influential tribal elders, Zwak added.

Helmand is considered one of the most insecure provinces that the armed Taliban is currently active in a number of its districts.
