President Ghani Awards ‘Mir Masjidi Khan’ Medal To Afghan National Cricketers

12920929_1059693890758397_2095705002_nKABUL: (MEP) President Mohammad Ashraf praised the efforts of the country’s National Cricket Team by awarding the Mir Masjidi Khan State Medal to cricketers who defended Afghanistan in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup T20 in India.

A statement by his office released states, Ghani opened the medal award ceremony Thursday morning at presidential palace and welcomed Baz Mohammad Mubarez as well as the Afghanistan’s National Cricket Team.

Ghani said to Mubarez, “it is such a honor that at numerous international competitions Afghan national flag has been raised.”

He appreciated of the tireless efforts of Mubarez and team coaches who were totally successful in the competition.

Ghani said sports team such as football and cricket has gained the people’s special status, according to the statement.

In addition of more success for Afghanistan’s sports, the president said, “I hope the country’s achievement and championship be the best example for other youth athletes so they learn in order to develop well.”

Baz Mohammad Mubarez in defeating his Russian opponent at free sporting event MMA and the National Cricket Team for World Cup T20 were awarded the higher national medal of Mir Masjidi Khan.
