Political Leaders Urge Ghani to Stop Govt Appointments

KABUL (MEP) – A number of Afghan political leaders in a joint statement on Sunday, urged President Ghani to stop the appointment of government officials.

The political leader’s statement says that efforts are underway to resolve election impasses and find a way out the current crisis.

Former President Hamid Karzai, jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, chairman of the High Peace Council, Karim Khalili and former VP Younis Qanuni, together have made some proposals to the bode sides in order to finalize efforts and achieve the desired result.

The statement also added that they urge Abdullah to extend the timeline which has been set to reach to a political agreement.

Political leaders have expressed hope that the peace talks will begin as soon as possible and reach a final conclusion so that lasting peace can be established.

The statement comes as yesterday, political leaders met with Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the president of the all-inclusive government and discussed current impasses.
