Zia-u-deen, son of Atiqullah in an interview with the Middle East News Agency, said “my father has been arrested by Zia-ul-haq Khan, police chief of Jawzjan – Sar-e-pul highway after a verbal conversation with two of his bodyguards.”
But sources in Sar-e- Pul province say the body of Atiqullah was found last night in the area of Chashme Sheren.
However, government officials have not yet confirmed it officially.
Meanwhile, Zabi-ullah Amani, Spokesman for Sar-e-Pul governor told our correspondent “It is said that the body was found but police did not inform us about the issue.”
Amani had earlier announced that the peace council member was abducted along with two of his bodyguards from Sar-e-Pul – Jawzjan highway by unknown gunmen.
