Planners of Zanbaq Square deadly Attack were arrested

Three main planners of huge deadly attack in Kabul on 2017, were arrested by National Directorate of security.

According to the Middle East Press; the NDS issuing a newsletter said that they were involved in a deadly strike In Zanbaq square on 31 May 2017.

The newsletter that was sent to media, indicates that detained individuals are; engineer Sharif, Ghulam Mostafa and Jawid, who are the main resident of Maidan Wardak province.

The newsletter did not specify the exact time of their detention, but said that they were accused of being members of the Haqqani Network.

After the attack, Afghan government marked Haqqani Network as cause of the blast, although no group has formally claimed responsibility for it.

More than 80 people were killed and more than 300 others were wounded in a blast in Zanbaq quarter on 31 May 2017.

The National Directorate of Security yesterday also announced the arrestment of “Abu Obeidullah Motawakkil”, a university professor and cleric of the Sheikh Mohammadis Mosque, who was responsible for recruiting ISIL members in Kabul.
