KABUL: (Middle East Press) Dozens of Pakistani people have staged a huge rally to protest against the recent fatal attack on Shia Muslims in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

Large crowds of protesters, including members of civil society and peace activists, poured onto the streets of Peshawar on Friday to express their anger against the deadly violence.

The angry demonstrators repeated anti-government slogans and demanded the arrest of those behind the incident.

The protesters have blamed the government for failing to sue the perpetrators.

The rally comes a week after 23 people were killed in a gun-and-bomb attack on a Shia mosque packed with worshipers in the Peshawar city of volatile.

Over 50 others have also sustained injuries during the attack, according to police and medical sources.

Another bomb explosion on February 18 killed at least three people and injured two others when a bomb exploded on a Shia mosque near Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. This is the latest deadly incident in a wave of violence against the Shia Muslim community in Pakistan.
