Peace and Moderation Team led by Hanif Atmar, supported the Peace Process by US special envoy and his talks with Taliban and emphasized on intra-Afghan talks.

According to Middle East press; this Presidential candidate team today (Sunday, March 17) issuing a statement declared; opposing and destructing actions of Government through peace talks are contrary to national interests.

The statement is as follows:

Peace is the urgent necessity and historical aspiration of the people of Afghanistan. After decades of insecurity and internal disputes and foreign interference, we must move towards reconciliation and peace and achieve national understanding.

The peace process, which has begun with international support and has been placed in resolute plan of US, has gained tangible achievements through the efforts of Mr. Zalmai Khalilzad and has been endorsed by Peace plans of our allies and the overwhelming majority of our people; “Peace and Moderation” Team strongly supports the efforts of the United States and its special envoy to peace talks, Mr. Khalilzad and believes in the initiation and continuation of intra-Afghan talks on this path.

In this regard, Peace and Moderation Team describe the Afghan government’s destructing and opposing action, contrary to national interest and stable peace in the country and condemns the non-responsible statements of the National Security Advisor to create barriers on a lasting peace and describes it opposite to good relations between Afghanistan and international allies, especially US.

These anti-peace moves are carried out by the government while its period is ending; a government that is replete with financial and administrative corruption, has no scientific, basic, military, political and economic plans and must take preparation of power delivery on (JAWZA) month of coming solar year.

We are witnessing non-responsible and anti-national measures by the Afghan government todays, the use of armed forces against people in Balkh, Faryab, Ghor, Kabul and … are as examples.

Therefore, the Peace and Moderation team describes their demands as follows:

1- The Peace and Moderation Team supports peace process by Khalilzad and his efforts on bringing Taliban to negotiation table.

2- The Peace and Moderation Team emphasizes on intra-Afghans talks in order to reach lasting and moderate peace.

3-The Peace and Moderation team condemns the government’s efforts to curtail peace talks and destroy Afghanistan’s good relations with international allies and in particular the United States and urges the government to avoid unwarranted statements against our international allies.

4-The Afghan Armed Forces are the real advocators of the Afghan people against our foreign enemies; the government does not have the right to use armed forces against people for political and electoral purposes, thus they must avoid adventuring in this regard.
