Pakistan To Deport Afghan Refugees

Afghan refugees in PakistanMEP: Along with the efforts of Pakistan for repatriating the Afghan refugees to their country, the Pakistani Minister of border areas says the country cannot accept further Afghan refugees.

Abdul Qadir Baloch said that in any way, immigrants and refugees from Afghanistan should leave Pakistan.

Baloch added the Afghan refugees in Pakistan have occupied more than a million jobs which caused financial difficulties for Pakistani citizens.

He stressed that the country cannot receive about three million Afghan refugees and these people should leave Pakistan as soon as possible.

Baluch, meanwhile accused Afghanistan for not fulfilling its promises and commitments to return its citizens to their country.

The report comes as on Thursday June 30, the deadline set by the Government of Pakistan for Afghan refugees voluntary departure was over.

However, the deadline has been extended one day before its end by the Islamabad authorities for another year for the registered migrants with identity cards.

Islam-udeen Jaraat, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation told the Middle East News Agency the departure issue of Afghan refugees from Pakistan is set out in the Afghan delegation’s visit to Islamabad and to find a solution for it.
