Over 50 Insurgents Joint Peace Process In Ghor

InsurgentsKABUL: (Middle East Press) More than 50 anti-government insurgents including two commanders have reportedly joint peace process and laid down their weapons on Sunday in western Ghor province, local officials said.

Mustafa Mohseni, provincial police chief said the commanders were identified as “Mullah Khudai Rahim” and “Arbab Samad”.

“These people which renounced violence have brought a number of weapons,” he said.

The insurgents surrendered their weapons in Dawleena district of the province but a number of resident of Ghor have said that one of their commanders was involved in killings and crimes and they have called for his arrest by security forces.

Local officials believe that this move by former insurgents will result in improved security in the province.

This comes after insurgents increased their activities in the province and frequently attack security posts.
