Over 200 Wounded In Kabul Suicide Attack

Kabul-explosionKABUL: (MEP) More than 200 injured were so far shifted to the hospitals as a powerful explosion rocked capital Kabul Tuesday morning.

Ismael Kawoosi, head of the media department at the Ministry of Public Health, confirmed the figures.

The blast took place at around 9:00am after a suicide car bomber specifically targeted the 10th security unit in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area.

Kawoosi stated that the death toll of the accident is still not clear since the transfer of wounded and dead to the hospital continues.

The explosion comes as Taliban insurgents earlier this week announced its Spring Offensive under the name of “Omari” across the country. The anti-government insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, witnesses told Middle East Press that the blast has totally caused damage to the nearby buildings and shops.

Mudasir, a resident of Kabul city in explosion site said “I was inside the shop when I heard a heavy sound of explosion, he said adding that “all the products collapsed in the shop and I saw people running around, it was really, really frightening and upsetting.”

Clashes and gunfire still continues in the area, according to security sources.
