Over 15 Killed As Heavy Rains Continue To Wreak Havoc In Pakistan

553e0f7b17298KABUL: (MEP) Heavy rains and storms have reportedly killed more than 15 people and injured many others across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit Baltistan cities of Pakistan on Sunday.

According to Pakistani sources, at least 20 houses have also been collapsed due to heavy rains in the areas.

The torrential rains in KP have inundated several villages in Ghazi Garhi while 40-canal agricultural land devastated due to ongoing downpours.

A nine-year-old boy Abdullah was dead in roof collapse mishap in Shabqadar while his mother and 11-year-old brother Faizan Ullah sustained severe wounds.

Separately, four of a family died when the roof collapsed on them in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) affirmed the death of 10 people and said that they had started rescue work in the affected areas.

The electricity system was also completely demolished in the rain-affected areas.

Furthermore, the bridge linking Peshawar and Sheikhan submerged, suspending land contact from other areas whereas as many as 30 shops also inundated.
