One Dead, 13 Wounded In Pakistan’s Quetta Blast

MEP: At least one person was killed and 13 others sustained injuries in a roadside bomb explosion hit a security vehicle on Thursday in Quetta, the capital of restive Balochistan province.

The blast came just days after a suicide bombing at a hospital killed at least 74 people, most of them lawyers, officials and media said.

Rescue teams and security forces have arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

Home Minister Safaraz Bugti said the homemade bomb targeted police personnel escorting a judge, who was not hurt in the attack, in the city. “It was Federal Shariat Court Judge Zahoor Shawani’s car that was passing, but I believe it was the police who were the target,” he said.

A breakaway faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks in Quetta.
