Norwegian Aid To IOM In Afghanistan Stopped

flag-norwayKABUL: (MEP) Norway, one of the largest donors of International Organization for Migration (IOM) stopped its financial support to the organization until further notice.

A statement was issued by the Ministry of Refugees on Saturday states the approach was taken due to the risk of obvious corruption and theft in IOM.

“Serious measures must be taken by the organization for the elimination of corruption” Christian Wahlberg, general in charge of the Norwegian Immigration was quoted by the statement.

She called on the organization to give full confidence to Norway that the Norwegian aid money only spends in dedicated cases.

Norway has provided five million dollars to the International Organization for Migration in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2015 that many refugee returnees have also benefited from this aid.
