North Korea’s Defense Minister Executed

KABUL: (Middle East Press) North Korea’s government has reportedly executed Defense Minister Hyon Yong-chol by anti-aircraft fire for unfaithfulness and disrespect to leader Kim Jong-un, South Korea’s intelligence agency says.

Hyon was executed in the presence of hundreds of officials on April 30, National Intelligence Agency (NIS) Deputy Director Han Ki-beom said before a parliamentary committee on Wednesday, Yonhap news agency reported.

Apparently, he was caught dozing off during formal military events and also talked back to Kim Jong-un on several occasions.

The killed minister was appointed as the minister of the people’s armed forces less than a year ago.
