North Korea Fires Several Short-Range Missiles Into Sea Of Japan

North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the sea of JapanKABUL: (MEP) North Korea has reportedly fired several short-range projectiles into the Sea of Japan amid heightened tension over the isolated country’s nuclear and rocket programmes.

According to an official statement from Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the missiles flew for 200kms before landing in the waters east of North Korea.

The launch on 21 March morning comes just days after the launch of mid-range ballistic missiles on 18 March.

A South Korean government source said its military was trying to find out what types of missiles and payloads were fired.

“Our military is keeping close tabs on the situation and standing by with a heightened defense posture,” the JCS said, according to the Yonhap news agency.

The launches come after North Korea denounced annual US-South Korea military drills which it sees as a rehearsal for invading the North.
