Nine Wounded in Balkh Grenade Explosion

BalkhKABUL: (Middle East Press) At least nine civilians were injured following a bomb blast in northern Balkh province on Thursday afternoon, an official said.

The blast took place by a hand grenade blew up on a road near the country’s popular shrine Rawza in the provincial capital city Mazar-e-Sharif.

The provincial police said three civilians were injured in the blast, however, hospital officials in Balkh gave higher casualty figure: 9 injured.

According to head of Balkh hospital, two of the patients were in critical condition.

No group including Taliban militants claimed responsibility for the bombing.

The blast comes as the country is recovering from an earthquake that left 115 people killed, more than 500 injured and thousands of homes damaged.
