Nine Armed Taliban Arrested In Kandahar

MEP-TalibanMEP: Nine armed Taliban, who were busy in sabotage activities, suicide attacks and collect of Zakat have been arrested in Kandahar province.

A statement by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Saturday the terrorists were detained before they were attempting to launch attacks on government vehicles, military supply trains in Kabul – Kandahar highway.

The Taliban have also been involved in destructive activities in the districts of Shah Wali Kot, Maiwand and Khakrez, killing the tribal elders, religious scholars and government officials as well as collecting money from the people as a tithe, the statement added.

NDS says with the arrest of these people, peace and security is expected to spread in the areas.

The development comes as on Thursday last week, 15 armed Taliban had been arrested on charges of murder, terror and collect of tithes in Ghazni province.
