New Case of Polio Confirmed in Kandahar

Kandahar public health officials say a new polio case has been confirmed in the province.

The paralyzed is an 18-month-old child living in Manzel Bagh area of Kandahar province.

Abdul Qayum Pekhla, head of the Emergency Response Center for Polio in Kandahar, told media that the child is living in the village of Mullah Alam Akhund.

The general implementation of the Polio vaccine in Kandahar province has come to an end after a week.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, since the beginning of this year, there have been 22 polio cases in the country, including eight in Uruzgan, five in Helmand, four in Kandahar, two in Paktika, three in Paktika, Kunar, Nangarhar and Badghis provinces.
