Nearly 30,000 Families Displaced In Kunduz And Takhar

Thousands displaced in Kunduz and TakharMEP: Expansion of insecurity in the provinces of Kunduz and Takhar in the north of Afghanistan has forced nearly 30 thousand families to leave their homes.

The provincial immigration chief says since the fall of Kunduz to the hands of armed Taliban, a total of 26 thousand families have been displaced from insecure regions and districts of the province.

Hashemi said: “among the 26 thousand displaced families, many of them are within the province and a number of them have gone out of the province and several have been trapped in the war that can not escape.”

The number of displaced increase day by day, he added.

According to Hashemi, during last week, four thousands of families have been displaced from Dasht-e-Archi and Qala Zal districts and a number of them have gone to Takhar province.

Meanwhile Amiri, Kunduz provincial council representative says hundreds of displaced families are facing major difficulties in Abdan desert of the province.

“If the situation continues this way, the number of displaced will increase more and more” he added.

According to him, those who have not been able to escape the conflicted areas, are facing a shortage of food and medicine.

Kunduz provincial spokesman Sayed Mahmoud Danesh says humanitarian aid and assistance will soo reach to the effected people in the areas after coordinating with NGOs.

Meanwhile, officials in Takhar also announce from displacing of more than two-thousand families in the districts of Farkhar, Rustaq, Khwaja Ghar from the districts of Dasht-e Archi and Qala Zal of Kunduz province.
