A statement by National Directorate of Security (NDS), said the security officers arrested four insurgents along 4 suicide attack vests who wanted to use them to carry out attacks in Mehtarlam city, the capital of the province.
Some explosive materials were also confiscated from the insurgents, according to NDS statement.
The detained militants are currently held in the police custody for further examination, the statement said, adding that the men confessed to their crimes and said they were looking to use the explosives to carry out attacks in crowded parts of the city.
However, the identities of the insurgents were not given.
This comes as a suicide attacker who wanted to carry out attacks in Nangarhar province, has been killed by police officers on Wednesday morning.
