KABUL: (MEP) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on his visit to Kandahar province for assessing the general security situation and development on Wednesday.
Ghani said on his speech at the joint gathering organized that he is giving more authority to the mayors of Kandahar, Herat, Balkh and Nangarhar provinces on trial-basis.
He added that “Pretty soon the decree would be signed in this regard”,
Any mayor that shows good performance would be given loans as per the conditions.
The gathering was attended by local government officials, members of the provincial council, prominent figures, traders, religious scholars, activist of the civil society and community elders where the President also promised that the electricity issue of Kandahar would be solved soon.
President Ghani further said that he has instructed the Ministry of Finance for constructing Spin Boldak-Kandahar railway.
