MoD: Major Taliban Explosives Depot Destroyed in Ghazni

The National Defense Ministry (MoD) says one of the largest Taliban explosives depots was destroyed in Ghazni’s Muqur district during a special operation by security forces.

The depot belonged to Hafez Jahangir, the military chief of the armed Taliban in Muqur, MEP reports as citing a newsletter released today September 14.

The operations by commando forces and 703 special unit of NDS in cooperation with National Air Forces targeted one of the major armed Taliban headquarters in Muqur district of Ghazni province, newsletter went on.

According to the newsletter, about 2000 kg of explosives, including 120 barrels, 26 motorbikes, a Corolla and two Taliban bases were destroyed.

26 Taliban members were also killed in the operation, the explosives were transformed from one of the neighboring countries into the Ghazni province, and was supplied by the miners of the al-Qaeda terrorist group, said MoD.

One of the security forces was wounded in the operation.

The armed Taliban have not commented so far.
