Mines minister Shahrani resigns for participation 2014 Afghan Elections

KABUL: (MEP) – recent reports says, Afghan mines minister, Wahidullah Shahrani has resigned from his position in a bid to participate in the future presidential elections.

Wahidullah Shahrani is among the three Afghan ministers who have resigned to run for 2014 presidential elections. His resignation was announced along with the trade and commerce minister, Anwar-ulhaq Ahadi.

Previously, Afghan foreign affairs minister, Dr. Zalmai Rasoul resigned from his position to participate in the elections, and he is expected to file nominatin with the independent election commission today.

In the meantime, reports suggest that Azizullah Ludin, head of the High Office of Oversight and Anti-Corruption has also resigned from his position to run for presidential elections.

More nominations are expected for 2014 presidential elections as the deadline for the registration process of the candidates will expire this afternoon.

Independent election commission spokesman, Noor Mohammad Noor said that the presidential candidates have until 4pm today to file nominations for the elections.
