KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 128 insurgents have been killed following military operation in Nahr-i-Siraj District of southern Helmand province in the course of 17 days.

The operations were jointly conducted by hundreds of members of Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and National Directorate of Security.

General Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said that at least six security forces have also lost their lives in a landmine blast and insurgent fire however Azimi did not specify the exact location of the terrorist activities.

The Ministry of Defense issued another statement Sunday morning states that the military operation has ended successfully in Nahr-i-Seraj District which began 17 days ago.

According to the statement 128 killed and 81 others wounded during the operation. 13 villages of this district were also cleared from the presence of the militants.

Afghan security forces have also destroyed a terrorist depot containing weapons, bombs and other terrorist materials during the operation.
