Militants Attack Two Egyptian Policemen in Sinai Peninsula

KABUL: (Middle East Press) According to Egyptian officials, at least two police officers have been killed in a drive-by shooting in the violence-plagued Sinai Peninsula Egypt.

The incident took place late Friday after the militants fired at a group of policemen in El-Arish, the capital city of North Sinai province, killing two and injuring a third, said the security and medical officials on condition of anonymity.

There were no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. However, such attacks are usually blamed on Takfiri terrorists.

The attack comes after two other Egyptian soldiers were killed in a surprise attack on Thursday by unidentified armed men against a security checkpoint in the restive peninsula.

The developments came after an Egyptian AH-64 Apache attack helicopter pounded a militant hideout in the Sahel al-Bahr area of Rafah on Wednesday, killing 15 militants.
